141st IIC in Cardiff

On 31st May 2019, I was privileged to attend the 141st International Instructor’s Course at the Cardiff City House of Sport, Cardiff.

The course duration was 16 hours over 3 days and was conducted by Grand Master Hector Marano, IX Degree from Argentina, Grand Master Ung Kim Lan, IX Degree from Germany and Master Paul McPhail VIII Degree from New Zealand.

Many seniors from T-UK attended the event as it is not often we are lucky enough to have an IIC so local.

The IIC was organised by Mr Neil Ernest VI and was to prove to be a fantastic event.

Day 1 consisted of pattern up to and including Choong-Moo. The patterns were explained in great detail and a chance was given to ask questions at the end of each. The pattern groups were combined with elements of self defence, breaking and sparring techniques.

On the Saturday, 8 hours in total was spent practicing and learning about patters Kwang—Gae to Choi-Yong. This was a long but informative day and again pattern was interspersed with other training elements.

That evening, there was a banquet in honour of our guests. The food was excellent and the company even better. A good night was had by all.

The final day concluded the pattern group by performing Yong-Gae to Tong Il

An IIC is a must for all black belt student and is a fabulous way to train with some of our most senior practitioners who instruct in the same manner as our founder General Choi Hong Hi.

It was a fabulous weekend to put our doboks on and train with many good friends and learning to boot. I believe we have another IIC in Newcastle in 2020 and I am looking forward to this already.
