Mark Scriven Tournament
On Sunday 14th July, a small team from T-UK Leeds went down to compete in the Mark Scriven Championships in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
Mark was a T-UK Fourth Degree who sadly passed away some 4 years ago after failing to recover on the operating table following arm surgery. The tournament has been run ever since annually to remember a good friend.
The tournament was opened by Master Archer at just after 9:30 and then battle could commence
The T-UK Leeds team consisted of Emma, who assisted me doing all the draw sheets and also doubling up on a square as an official, Adam who was coach and dad for the day, Rebecca and Holly Dean, Taylor and Connie Schofield and Oleksandr Horishnyak.
First tournament for three of the team.
Rebecca, Holly and Taylor competed in pattern and although performing really well they were unfortunate not to medal on the day.
Connie however entered both pattern and sparring and won a silver medal in both. Needless to say, she was a little pleased
After waiting the best part of the morning Oleks was up straight after lunch and competed in sparring and hand power break.
He achieved a bronze in the sparring which was an achievement (as he was competing with blue belts) and also a gold in hand power break.
A good day was had by all remembering Mark and getting the guys to compete out of their comfort zones. Lets hope we have a bigger team for the British Champs at the end of the year.
All in all a very happy instructor
Well done team and thanks for the support of the parent also. Job done
